Bell-ringer 1: writing prompt. 1/5/13 Reflection and Growth Respond to the following prompt by writing a minimum of 3 sentences Identify and describe a moment in this class during semester one where you failed to meet the class expectations; how did this affect you and your academic success? (if you need to refresh your memory, look to the window where our expectations are posted)

Presentations will begin on Thursday. Those who sign up for Thursday will receive an extra 5 points on their project grade (test grade) Agenda: • Review of classroom expectations and procedures • Mini quiz on review
Acceptable versus Unacceptable behaviors • Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Stokes have zero tolerance for disrespect. • This includes towards teachers, students and materials in and out of this classroom. • There is a three step process if unacceptable behavior occurs: • Step one: verbal warning • Step two: conference (outside or after class) • Referral/dismissal from class. This can result in receiving a zero for the day.
Tardies • According to the student handbook you are allowed two tardies before a referral is written. • Even if you come with a note, consistently coming to class late will result in a consequence. • Referral, missing work, low grade on bell-ringer book (quiz grade) • If you are late to this class, you must have a pass to enter. I will send you back to where you came from!

FYI when presenting or listening… 1/27 When listening… 1. Be respectful. Laughing, talking or being disruptive during presentations will result in a deduction of points on your grade. 2. If you have a question, hold it until the end of the presentation. 3. Take notes…we will be checking your charts! When presenting… • Face your audience! We do not want to look at your back. • Speak clearly and take your time: presentations need to be 3 min. • Leave last slide up when giving a Q&A session. • Show your product!
After presenting • Look over your notes and consider the following when making your decision as to whose product you will buy…. • 1. Was the presentation effective? Did the persuader use personal experiences, celebrities or other persuasive techniques? • 2. Was the power point appealing? • 3. Did the presenter use a clear voice with an even tone? REMEMBER! IT IS NOT WHETHER YOU WOULD BUY IT, BUT IF THE PRESENTATION WOULD BE PERSUASIVE TO BUYERS IN GENERAL..
