ISO 20000 Certification: An International Standard for Service Management The first International Standard for service management was developed in the year 2005 by ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7 which later revised in the year 2011 and 2018. Earlier this standard was developed by BSI group known by BS 15000. This standard originally followed the best guidance practices which are contained in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library). It guides the service management system based on the standard requirement. This being a process-based methodology which includes process prototyping, process Building, process implementation, and process tuning, further adding it is based on sustaining, maturing and process improving. For continual improvement in this standard, there is an explicit requirement. It revolves around Plan-Do-Check-Action endless process and continual improvement. Each tuning phase acts as a PDCA cycle. IT industry specifies the roles and responsibilities to manage the IT service which is based on High-Level benefits.
