Trends and Development Need of ISO Certification International Trade always is an integral part of any Nation which boosts up the economy of the country. International trade can be more successful when it is connected with the internationally recognized standards. It has been observed that incongruent standards can be a barrier to international trade in any way. Standards not only encourage fair competition in the free-market economy but also enhanced product quality and reliability, greater compatibility and interoperability with a greater degree of maintenance and cost reduction. ISO began in the year 1926 as the International Federation of the National Standardization Associations (ISA) which focused on mechanical engineering. During the Second World War in 1942, it got banned and was re-organized again as ISO in the year 1946. The name “ISO” is derived from the Greek word “ISOS” which means “equal” (define as if two objects meet the same standard then they should be equal in all respect). The name eliminates all confusion as it translates as International Organization for Standardization which leads to different acronym into a different language. It is a Voluntary Organization whose Individual members are recognized as standard authorities where each one represents one country. Much capacity of work is done by 2700 technical committees, working groups, and subcommittees. Each one member of the Organizations will head the committee and subcommittees, for example, The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is an ISO representative in the United States. Any interested member of a working committee should have entitled to be a member of that committee. Consensus standards reached out with each Organization member representing the vendor's interests, manufacturers, consumers, and government of its country. After going through the six stages process it has been published as an ISO standard starting from the introductory stage which is also known as the proposal stage in which standard need is determined and members are identified who are willing to work. Which then enters the preparatory stage where the standard working draft has been developed. After that, it enters the committee stage which sent out for the comments until it reaches out to the consensus.
Likewise, there are other related stages and if the standard passes all the stage then it enters the publication stage which lastly sent for the publication to ISO Central Secretariat. As the number of companies is increasing more companies are showing interest in ISO Certification. The worldwide trend shows that between the years 1994 and 2002 at the time of economic slowdown that interest in ISO 9001 was slowing, but during the recent time it has been widely accepted by the United States and the reason being many remain strong among companies in safety and industrial markets. This certification also recommended for auto manufacturers, hotel management and other Industry people. ISO standards improve the efficiency of the process. Every participant in the program will get benefit from the principles of strong customer focus. With the support of top management, it will have continual improvement. Several technology base companies are getting benefits from the ISO standards by providing the graphic interface solutions which ensure that their delivery times are prompt and earn satisfied customers. To gain the interest of the vendor's many vendors wants to do business that met the International standard for production. Currently, every aspect of the business is covered under the International standard no area is bereft which ISO doesn’t cover. The purpose of every business that customers should get the best quality of products and services and ISO certification fulfills all needs and requirements.
