  23. Clinton Wastewater Treatment Plant Aeration:Fay, Spofford & Thorndike, LLC • Installing fine bubble diffusers in aeration tanks obtain a better oxygen transfer rate and reduce electricity consumption • 99% complete

Clinton Wastewater Treatment Plant Digester Rehab:Fay, Spofford & Thorndike, LLC • Clean and rehab digesters and rehab the tanks (replace covers, piping, valves, gas lancers and mixers) to operate under new NPDES permit • Construction Notice to Proceed: June 2013 • Estimated Construction Cost: $3.2 million

  26. MWRA’s Capital Improvement Program • Over 80% of MWRA’s capital spending has been for projects mandated by federal or state regulators

  27. Future Capital Spending • FY2014 will mark the beginning of a new five-year cap for MWRA’s CIP - $350 million lower than the current cap • The lowest projected spending since the Boston Harbor Clean-up began in 1990

  28. Paying Down Debt • As of December 31th, 2012, the total Indebtedness is $5.8 billion • For the first time, MWRA will be paying off more principal on debt than annual capital spending
