  1. The Digital Divide By: Andrew Holoman, Louis F. Mendez, and Javier Peral

  2. A Social Problem • 'It is a social issue rather than a technology issue,' maintained Adrian Hosford, director of corporate responsibility at BT, speaking about the report. Williams, Alun. “BT highlights the digital divide.” PC Pro. 2004. 11 November 2006 <http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/66768/bt-highlights-the-digital- divide.html>

  3. Logistics • To bring an underprovided area into the digital world involves bridging the network gap. • This involves creating a new network of various connections and then bridging this new network to the Internet, which is a collection of networks.

  4. Better Ways to Spend Money • Governments have much more pressing needs, like hunger and disease, which are immediately life threatening and should be where the majority of government funds are spent.

  5. Lack of Desire • In many places where Internet service is not available it is not generally desired. • Many indigenous cultures of Latin America and Africa resent the presence of technology therefore the government has no reason to provide these people with access to the Internet and computers.
