My memories of my son playing Little League Baseball

Growing up, baseball was a big part of my life. As a player, I longed for the day when I had kids they would grow up playing the game. Baseball has strengthened the bond between my son and me. It teaches discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Baseball can build a special bond between father and son that is unmeasurable. As I watched my son grow-up, I grew with him.

  3. TEE-BALL – SPRING 2012In the beginning, everyone starts out by playing tee-ball. This teaches the basic fundamentals of the game and allows each player to experience the game at a neutral level. Below is a picture of my son batting for the first time. This moment was special because it was his first real “game-time” experience.

  4. COACH-PITCH – FALL 2013After tee-ball, the players move up to coach-pitch. In this league, the coach pitches to their own teammates in place of an actual pitcher. My son payed catcher and third-base. He had a rifle arm which made the coach to put him at positions where it could be fully-utilized.

  5. COACH-PITCH – SPRING 2014By the spring, my son became more confident and improved as a player. He was voted the team captain and generated a number of impressive stats including batting average and on base percentage. His team, the Mets, even won their division.

  6. JENKINS TOWNSHIP TOURNAMENT – SUMMER 2014Since the Mets won their division, they were invited to the Jenkins Township tournament. This tournament draws large crowds. Although the Mets entered the tournament as heavy underdogs, they won and shocked everyone. This was a proud moment for me as a coach because my son hit the game-tying RBI and also scored the winning run.

  7. MINORS – FALL 2014My son entered the minor’s league in the Fall of 2014. This was a big change for him because now actual kids pitch in the game. As you can see below, my son continued as a catcher and adjusted to the game well. He even had a chance to try out as a pitcher.

  8. INDOOR PRACTICE – WINTER 2015Between the Fall and Spring league, the coaches provide “off season” non-mandatory conditioning and practice. This helps build strength, endurance, and provide a more intimate setting for instruction. It also helps build team relationship between the players.

  9. MINORS – SPRING 2015Thespring season was exciting. My son continued catching and also had an opportunity to pitch a few games. He continued to excel at the game. As a result, he helped many of his teammates become better. Below is a shot of him pitching as well as batting and catching.

  10. MOOSIC TOURNAMENT– SUMMER 2015Sincethe Mets finished at the top of their division in the Spring of 2015, they were invited to participate in a 3-day tournament in Moosic, PA. Their team played nine games and went undefeated. They took first place and once again earned bragging rights.

  11. Coaching baseball for me was never about winning or losing. It was about the quality time I enjoyed with my son. We both love the game of baseball and it has brought us very close. Baseball is our happy place. When we take the field, nothing else bothers us. As we continue to grow and get older, I look forward to building many more memories.
