The procedure is simple; performed in our clinic as an outpatient procedure, your vascular specialist will give you a mild sedative to relax and calm you. Once prepared, a real-time ultrasound will be used to visualize your uterus and fallopian tubes. Contrasting dye is then inserted into your fallopian tubes to pinpoint the exact location of the blockage. After located, your specialist will insert a catheter into the fallopian tube via your cervix. The catheter releases a metal wire that unblocks the fallopian tube, allowing the canal to operate normally. Within half an hour, your FTR treatment will be completed and you will be discharged from our clinic in the following two hours. What you can expect from this non-surgical treatment for blocked fallopian tubes depends on how they became blocked in the first place. For some women, mucus build-up leads to blocked fallopian tubes and, once having had the procedure, can expect to become pregnant in the coming months.
