What does it mean to be on Probation at CLU? • My cumulative or CLU GPA fell below a 2.0. • What is the difference between my CLU GPA and my cumulative GPA? • I am enrolled in the Academic Assistance Program for one semester. • I must bring my GPAs (term, cumulative and institutional) to at least a 2.0. • For more information on CLU’s definition of probation, visit: http://ww2.clunet.edu/car/undergrad/probation.php • To find the GPA calculators, visit: www.clunet.edu/advising (Click on the corresponding links on the left under “Additional Offices and Services”).
How did I get there? • We are all affected by different roadblocks, whether they be within our control, or outside our control. Some common roadblocks to academic success are: • Illness • Family Obligations/Stresses • Work • Social Distractions • Transitions • Blaming Others • What factors affected you?
The Most Important Question that Should Come to mind is… What Can I Do?
A Little Inspiration First… • “…everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances.” ~Victor Frankl • “Whether you think you can or think you can't - you are right.” ~Henry Ford • “A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her.” ~David Brinkley • “Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt • “Confidence is preparation. Everything else is beyond your control.” ~Richard Kline
Some Things I Can Do… • Create change…What will I do differently if faced with the same or new roadblocks, and am I willing to make that change? • Ask For Help • Go To Tutoring • Assess My Work Situation • Set Realistic, Measurable Goals • Go To My Support System Or Find One • Manage My Time Better • Take Advantage Of The Library Study Hours
