Government in fight against corruption How would you evaluate present actions of Government in fight against corruption? Most of the citizens of Serbia (55%) considers that Government is very or partially inefficient in fight against corruption. Little less than third of citizens considers that Government is efficient, and undecided 13% of citizens.
Which categories are corrupted? To what extend do you perceive following categories in our country as corrupted? Please answer to scale from 1 to 5, where 1 means not corrupted at all, and 5 very corrupted. Top score (4+5) 69% 57% 62% 53% 65% 63% According to opinion of citizens of Serbia, most corrupted category are political parties, and then public services. Among these categories media are the least corrupted, although just less than half of citizens considers media as not corrupted.
Citizens’ experience in bribing If they were in contact with following institutions: In the past 12 months have you or anyone living with you bribed following institutions? Small percentage of citizens of Serbia that were in contact with following institutions states that they had experience with bribing in the past year. Out of those who state that they gave bribe, most often they did it in health (12%), and then the police (9%).
Citizens’ experience in bribing In the past 12 months have you or anyone living with you bribed in any form? What was the average amount of bribe that members of your household gave in previous year? Total of 18% of citizens of Serbia in the past year gave bribe in some form. Amount of that bribe was most often between 30 USD and 500 USD.
Complaints to bribing THOSE WHO BRIBED (N=197): If in the past year you or someone from your household was asked for bribe how would you resolve this problem, did you file a complaint for that? Those who haven’t complained (N=117): Why didn’t you file a complaint? From the citizens that were asked for bribe in the past year, only 25% of them filed a complaint. Those who didn’t complaint, most often state as reason that that wouldn’t help them in any way.
Does bribe“resolve”problems of citizens of Serbia? If someone bribes the service in order to resolve some problem,how certain is that problem will be resolved after the payment? Most of the citizens consider that after giving of bribe problems they have would be resolved (61%). On the other hand, besides larger number of percentage of examinees without answer, around 17% considers that it isn’t certain that problem will be resolved by bribing.
