An Approach for Using Load Duration Curves in the Development of TMDLs. US EPA. 2007 The table is an example for BMPs in the document. Based on the flow regimes, different BMPs need to be applied to reduce pollutant loads.
Logic and Program (cgi) flow A BMP list for each flow regime requiring pollutant reduction needs to be built, The BMPs capable to reduce greater than the required reduction of pollutant load needs to be built, The area to be applied needs to be defined.For example, if the required reduction is 19.70 % :If the BMP efficiency is 20%, the BMP needs to be applied to 100% of the area.If the BMP efficiency is 80%, the BMP needs to be applied to approximately 25% of the area.This is the opposite way to calculate reduced pollutant loads by BMP in STEPL.

To reduce N BMP List for each Landuse The user needs to select one of options in each landuse table.

The user needs to select one of options in each landuse table, for example, Scenario 1: Option 1. Contour Farming. 40.62 % against Cropland. Option 1. Diversion. 43.78 % against Feedlots. Option 1. Concrete Grid Pavement. 21.89 % against Urban. Scenario 2: Option 1. Contour Farming. 40.62 % against Cropland. Option 2. Terrace. 35.82 % against Feedlots. Option 2. Porous Pavement. 23.18 % against Urban. To reduce N, The module suggested 4 options for Cropland, 2 options for Feedlots, and 2 options for Urban. Thus, 16 scenarios are available in STEPL. The BMP suggestion was tested by STEPL. It was not exactly same, but was similar. This is because STEPL has complex calculations with DB and watershed inputs.
