ETTCs throughout Georgia • Coordinated by the Office of Instructional Technology at the GaDOE • 13 centers located in Legislative districts • Regional support hubs for local systems that provide instructional and technical support • Training facilities for statewide initiatives and teacher development Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
ETTC Program Support • Division for Curriculum and Instruction • Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) Online Content • Develop online training modules for all of the GPS to give school districts the opportunity to redeliver to their teachers in a more cost efficient and time effective manner. • Online Assessment System • Provide training to every public high school science teacher on OAS with the purpose of improving student performance on the science portion of the High School Graduation Test • Assist the school system technology staff in preparing OAS for use by classroom teachers • Exceptional Students/Special Education • Promoting the effective use of technology for disabled students Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
ETTC Program Support • Division for School Improvement • Data Utilization Guide • Disseminate and train system level personnel on the Data Utilization Guide with an emphasis on student level data analysis • LEA Consolidated Application • Delivering LEA Consolidated Application training to each school system (Federal Funding Vehicle for over $1B to districts.) • Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) Leadership Training • Develop online modules that provide the GPS Leadership Training for new and existing school/district level administrators Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
ETTC Program Support • Office of Instructional Technology • Georgia Virtual School • Work as a Regional Facilitator for public, private and home school students with End of Course Testing (EOCT) • Georgia Standards.org • Training school systems on the use of the Managed Learning System (MLS) • Tagging of existing GLC resources for inclusion in the MLS and facilitating the creation and tagging of new resources • Title II-D Programs • Technology Plans • Assisting the GaDOE and local school systems to produce, implement and evaluate high quality technology plans, as required by NCLB and the federal e-rate program • 1:1 Wireless and eMath Grants • Monitoring and evaluating Title II-D formula and competitive grant programs • Science-based Research and Evaluation Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
ETTC Program Support • Division for Information Systems • Georgia Statewide Student Information System (GSSIS) • Assisting school systems in electronically reporting accurate information to GaDOE through state and local Student Information Systems • Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) • Providing content and technical support to local school personnel in the verification and uploading of AYP documentation • Facilities Application • Providing content and technical support to local school personnel in the verification and uploading of facilities Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
GSSIS Update • The districts assigned to the data warehouse Group 1 were e-mailed their user ID, password, and sFTP connection information on Wednesday • This e-mail was sent from the helpdesk to the SIS coordinator listed in the District Coordinator Database (to their Lotus Notes account) • A scrolling message has been posted on the MyGaDOE portal notifying the SIS Coordinators in group 1 to check their Notes account for this ID and password information Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
GSSIS Update • The transmission window begins today (2/15/2006) for group 1 • It is not our expectation that all districts in group 1 will upload on 2/15/06 • Districts have until 2/28/06 to upload data and resolve as many errors as possible • Cognos reporting (so districts can verify their data submitted) is not available through the MyGaDOE portal yet • This should be automatically available for the districts once they have been provisioned for the application at GaDOE Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
GSSIS Update • Data Collections is working on a final version of the list of data elements that will be collected in the warehouse • This will be available for all districts to download through the MyGaDOE portal this week (after it has been reviewed and approved) • This document will be similar to the file layouts (just a different format) that the districts are used to seeing and will include the description of the element, business rules associated with it and what the eScholar element name is Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education

GSSIS Update • ETL, GTID, and Cognos Overview trainings have been conducted at the ETTCs • Two-day Cognos training are being held at your local ETTC • SASI districts just received their ETL training at the ETTCs this past week • The Weidenhammer step-by-step guide will be available within the week on the MyGaDOE portal. Data Warehouse Upload • As Districts complete integration of GTID’s into their systems, they may begin uploading data to the Data Warehouse • Due to the large number of data sources (183) providing data in a phased concept. • Districts have been broken down into 4 groups: pilot, group 1, group 2, group 3 • Groupings are available on the GSSIS web site • The end goal is to have all Districts uploading data to the Data Warehouse by May 2006 on a monthly basis, in anticipation of the Student Record collection in June 2006. • The GSSIS will be the system of record beginning July 1, 2006 Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
Error Processing • All errors identified by GSSIS must be corrected in the local SIS package. GSSIS has no online error correction capabilities. • Error report drill-down at the student, school & district levels. • Error checking occurs at two points in the monthly upload process within GSSIS: • Receipt Manager • ETL Load Plans Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
Help Desk Support • The Information System Help Desk will continue to receive and route calls relating to GSSIS questions and problems • Data related calls requiring Level 2 response will be forwarded to the Data Collection group • GSSIS software-specific issues will be forwarded to the Operations and Maintenance group for the GSSIS • Regional helpdesk analysts are located at most ETTCs Kathy Cox, State Superintendent of Schools, Georgia Department of Education
