  3. Tumblr is a microblogging platform where users can post text, photos, quotes, links, music and videos. You post unique content or reblog discovered content posted by others. Tumblr was launched in 2007 by David Karp. The website contains over 140 million blogs.

  4. Tumblr is generally used for visual purposes (large images, gifs, etc.), with less text If someone subscribes to your Tumblrblog, they are considered your “follower” Each post made on Tumblr can be “tagged” and made searchable to other users

  5. Tumblr is similar to Blogger and Wordpress in the following ways: • Very user-friendly • Little tech experience needed • Can easily post links, original text, pictures, etc. • Free themes, which you can customize and edit the HTML of

  15. Followed blogs are collected on a user’s dashboard where they can interact with those blogs by liking, reblogging, or replying to them. Comments are not intrinsically a part of Tumblr blog posts. You can implement comments to your blog if you know the HTML to do so, or you can send users messages about their content.

Knowing What to Post • Always consider • Your library’s materials and services • Do you have anything notable in your collection? • What are your events? • Show patrons things they might not usually see if they were to walk into your library. • Your patrons and their interests • Who are your patrons? • What would they find useful and/or fun?
