Trends in Oil production and consumption • Trends in oil production and consumption are not uniform in all parts of the world • There is a difference in where it is produced and where it is consumed. • Look at table 4.4 in textbook (pg 158) • The uneven distribution is contributed to todays wide gap in affluence. • Top producers: Middle East, North America, Russia • Top consumers: USA, China, Japan, India, Russia, Brazil • See next slide

  16. Pattern of oil movement • Countries that can meet the needs of the people with the oil produced and still have amounts left are exporting oil to make money. Example: Kuwait, UAE • The areas that are exporting are those we saw in the top 10 producers list- exporting oil to countries who have poor production and reserves but consume large amounts of oil. • Table 4.5 in textbook (page 159)
