Determine CPU • First determine what kind of CPU socket you have to determine which CPU to purchase • This can be easily found out by running a program called CPU-Z.
CPU and Heat sink • Then purchase your CPU heat sink combo.
Old heat sink removal • Next is to remove your old heat sink by unplugging the fan power cord. • Then either unclip or unscrew your old heat sink.
Release Socket Lever • After heat sink is off you will need to release the socket lever and CPU cover.
Insert new CPU • Insert new CPU chip VERY CAREFULLYnot to damage any of the pins on the bottom.
New Heat Sink • If you receive a new heat sink then you will notice that it comes preinstalled with thermal paste. • If using old heat sink then new thermal paste must be applied or CPU will overheat.
Heat sink reinstall • Last thing to do is reinstall your heat sink and plug the fan power cord back into the motherboard and enjoy your new CPU!
