Point of view • A story told in the 1st person point of view is narrated by one of its main characters. • In this novel, the character is nicknamed Stuff. Through Stuff’s eyes, you will meet the other characters and will learn what happens on report card day.
Background • Earlier in the novel, Clyde’s father is killed in a work accident, and Clyde decided to honor him by switching from his high school’s commercial program to its academic program in order to prepare for college. “Trombones and Colleges” tells what happens when Clyde receives his first report card after switching programs.
