This event brings together various organizations and stakeholders to discuss and strategize on how to effectively link and create synergy between actors at micro, meso, and macro levels in the field of A-TVET. Topics of focus include cooperative training, A-TVET finance, technical-entrepreneurial skills balance, and the role of the private sector in cooperative training and the labor market.

  2. Background • Conducted its first regular meeting in October 2013 • 15 members • NGO: Red een Kind, Woord and Daad, Plan Int., DEC/Edukans, GOAL, ICCO, MKC-RDA • Donors: CIDA and GIZ • Alemaya University and Wolaita/Soddo • Genesis farm • Aeres group/ Stoas • Chair: ICCO/ W&D with ReK support

Focus area of the WG • How to be effectively link and create synergy micro-meso-macro level actors in the WG? • Possible Themes: • Cooperative training: apprentice/ practical period • A-TVET finance and financial sustainability • Demarcation between formal training - extension of services • Balance technical - entrepreneurial skills • Job Business Service (Cordaid, HOPE), • "mobile training" - take training to farmers! 3. Core theme : the role of private sector in cooperative training (apprentice) & the labour market.

Actions / plan 2014 • More members (FEMSIDA, HOPE, Cordaid, EPHEA, Passion Connect, Holeta A-TVET, Selam Vocational Training, Dorcas, Menshen fur Menshen, DVV, ATA, Germans in bamboo, ...) • Action research on: “Will training in entrepreneurship and access to financial services enable millions of young people throughout rural Africa to create their own jobs in agriculture”? • ReK leads with APF –NL to get mixed research teams of Ethio-Dutch students to look into the effects of gender, levels of education, household characteristics, proximity to markets, quality of natural resources, land availability, tenure regimes and the like • Local consultant needed for background info (policies) • Documentation of best practices • Dialogue event • Field experience sharing
