  1. SIGNUM 3SB3 3SF58 2.Generation

  2. SIGNUM Enclosures 3SF58 2.Generation • Topics: • Introduction – current engineering • New engineering / Highlights • Customer benefits • Status • MLFB overview • Cross reference Old - New • Technical differences • Obsolescence • Quick manual

  3. SIGNUM Enclosures – Current solution 3SF58 2.Generation

  4. SIGNUM Enclosures - New 3SF58 2.Generation

  5. SIGNUM Enclosures - New 3SF58 2.Generation Slaves: • Slaves to mount in the base of the enclosure • Fingerproof – IP20 • Connection via a 10-pole connector • Versions: - F-Adapter, 4I/4O, 4I/3O (AB) - versions for use in metall- or plastic enclosures

  6. SIGNUM Enclosures - New 3SF58 2.Generation Montage: • Contact blocks and lamp holders with integrated LED and CageClamp terminals are used. • Conntection to the slave(s) with wires

  7. SIGNUM Enclosures - New 3SF58 2.Generation Range: • Enclosures with equipment (Standard + Customer spec.) like today (but with new MLFB) • Independent components such as modules, wiring harness, and wire entry adapters are offered for customer installation

  8. SIGNUM Enclosures – customer benefits 3SF58 2.Generation • Modular system • F-Adapter integrated inside the enclosure – less need of space, more robust • Less parts on stock, if the enclosures are fitted by himself • Later modifications possible (e.g. other operators, additional contacts..) • A/B Technology possible • Less failures thanks to the fingerproof slaves (no destruction during assembly because of ESD) • Easy allignment of I/O to the contact blocks and lamp holders • Also metal enclosures are possible with integrated AS-Interface

  9. SIGNUM Enclosures - Status 3SF58 2.Generation • 1 point enclosure E-STOP available • 2 and 3 point enclosure available with standard equipment • Enclosures with customer April 2004 specific equipment • Single components April 2004

  10. SIGNUM Enclosures – MLFB´s Enclosures with standard equipment: 3SF58 2.Generation

  11. SIGNUM Enclosures – MLFB´s Enclosures with customer specific equipment: 3SF58 2.Generation Attention: Modified price calculation! In contrast to the old version, there is no slave incuded in the basic price. Reason: It is possible to choose between slaves with 4I/4O and A/B slaves with 4I/3O. These have different list prices.

  12. SIGNUM Enclosures – MLFB´s Single components (Slaves + cable harness): 3SF58 2.Generation NEW Metal Offerings Empty enclosures, 3SB3 operators, contact blocks and lamp holders are also needed. Only contact blocks and lamp holders with CageClamp terminals for base mounting can be used. (3SB3423-..)

  13. SIGNUM Enclosures – MLFB´s Single components (Connection elements): 3SF58 2.Generation NEW Metal Offerings

  14. SIGNUM Enclosures – Cross reference 3SF58 2.Generation

  15. SIGNUM Enclosures – technical difference 3SF58 2.Generation The following technical differences should to be noted:

  16. SIGNUM Enclosures – I/O allignment 3SF58 2.Generation Example Because of the fixed technology based on circuit boards, the allignment of the I/O´s to the contact blocks and lamp holders was complicated on the old version ot the AS-Interface enclosures. The customer gets the alignment with the delivery of the enclosure, but he needs it when he is working on the PLC program. To give the customer the possibility to create the PLC program before the delivery, a alignment logic was intoduced on the new AS-Interface enclosures.(downmost contact = E1, counted to the top) OLD NEW

  17. SIGNUM Enclosures – Obsolescence OLD 3SF58 2.Generation

  18. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation This quick manual for assembly of the new enclosures shall only show the possibilities of the new system. The complete manual can be found in the Internet. 1. Assembly the needed connection element FK - gland M12 connector Cable gland

  19. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation 2. Assembly of contact blocks / Lamp holders and slave(s) • Note: • Only contact blocks and lamp holders with integrated LED with cageclamp terminals are suitable • Possible mounting places for slaves see next slide

  20. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation 3. Possible mounting places for slave(s) • Note: • The center mounting place at the 4 point enclosure can only be used at plastic enclosures (marked with (X) )

  21. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation 4. Wiring

  22. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation 4. Wiring - example

  23. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation 4. Wiring – typical wiring mistakes Are there more than one slave in use, the contact blocks and lamp holders of the different slaves are not allowed to be connected with each other.

  24. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation 4. Wiring – typical wiring mistakes Inputs, which are laid out of the enclosure via an M12 socket, are not allowed to connect to an external power supply. These Inputs have to be connected to Sensor + of the enclosure´s slave.

  25. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation 4. Wiring – typical wiring mistakes Outputs, which are laid out of the enclosure via an M12 socket, are not allowed to connect to an external grounding. These Outputs has to be connected to Sensor - of the enclosure´s slave.Maximum current on the M12 socket is 500 mA.

  26. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation 5. Addressing

  27. SIGNUM Enclosures – Self fitting 3SF58 2.Generation 5. Mounting of the enclosure and connection of AS-Interface
