Air Quality Improvements • Entire State Measures Attainment for Ozone Ambient Air Quality Standard—Redesignation Petitions filed with USEPA & Approved for: • Delaware • Greene • Jackson • Vanderburgh • Vigo • Warrick • All other redesignation petitions pending at EPA • Only Marion and Clark Counties measure Nonattainment for PM2.5
Water Quality Improvements • Over 50 Combined Sewer Overflow Long Term Control Plans developed and approved since January 10, 2005 • Improved the technical criteria for Indiana’s list of impaired waters (303d) • Working with EPA to shift inspection resources from the relatively well operated major dischargers to smaller facilities that are not routinely inpected
Air Permits for New Facilities • New Toyota Production at Lafayette Subaru Facility • Louis Dreyfus Soy Biodiesel Plant—Largest in the US • A dozen new Ethanol Production Facilities with ten pending • Honda Greensburg NSR permit issued in 94 days
IDEM Goals • IDEM’s overall goal is to “Increase the personal income of all Hoosiers from the current $0.88/$1.00 of the national average to at least $1.00/$1.00 of the national average while maintaining and improving Indiana’s Environmental Quality.” • In order to achieve that goal, IDEM will continue to strive to be clear, consistent and speedy. • In order to meet even higher standards of responsiveness some IDEM programs need more stable funding.
