Goals of This Course • To develop an awareness of the range, scope, and complexity of the issues and problems related to the strategic management of technology and innovation, this course is designed: • To develop an understanding of the “state of the art” of the strategic management of technology and innovation. • To develop understanding about the process of bringing “newness” into an organization—through internal innovation and/or through external strategic alliances. • To develop a conceptual framework for assessing and auditing the technology capabilities of a business organization. • To develop insight concerning the skills necessary to be effective as a general manager in the innovation process and/or alliance building process.

Evaluations • 10% Attendance and Participation • 40% Final Exam • 50% Group Project • Groups should be formed before Sept. 28th, 2009. • Topic of projects should be turned in on Oct. 19th, 2009. • Project presentations are scheduled on Dec. 28th, 2009 and January 4th, 2010. Ten teams will be selected through a lottery system. • Project report is due on January 4th, 2010.
