  2. Apollo 13 • Apollo 13 was launched on April 11,1970. • The space vehicle was launched from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, at 2:13:00 p.m. EST on April 11, 1970.

  3. The astronauts who that flew in Apollo 13 • James A. Lovell, Jr. commanderJohn L. Swigert, Jr., command module pilot *Fred W. Haise, Jr. lunar module pilot • Apollo 13 was apart of Apollo's mission.

  4. Apollo’s purpose • The Apollo 13 mission was scheduled to explore the Fra Mauro information, or Fra Mauro highlands, named after the 80-kilometer-diameter Fra Mauro crater, located within it.

  5. Apollo 13’s complications • Apollo 13 was to be the third mission to land on the Moon. An explosion in one of the oxygen tanks crippled the spacecraft during flight and the crew were forced to orbit the Moon and return to the Earth without landing.

Mattingly was exposed to German measles, and replaced by Jack Swigert when it was learned he may did not have the antibodies to be immune the disease Mattingly never contracted the disease.2)Shortly before launch, a technician noticed a higher pressure on a helium tank than expected
