6. Different Mines, Different Qualities The volume and quality of the deposits, as well as market applications, usually determine the life of a kaolin mine.
Crude kaolin quality is determined by many different features and values including brightness and particle size. For our purposes Thiele condensed the quality information into only three categories: coating, filler, and marginal.
We used Excel spreadsheet data to estimate the amount of each quality of kaolin initially available in each mine at the time surveying was done.
7. Problem Statement We propose to use collected data to determine which kaolin site contains the greatest amount of each major quality type of kaolin.
