Graduation Requirements (cont.) *Elective credits are any academic/arts/PE credits that are above and beyond the graduation requirements listed above.
Promotion Criteria at NSA • Promotion criteria is based on number of credits and being on track with English and Math credits • The criteria below reflects MNPS requirements for promotion criteria based on the number of classes offered at NSA. • To be promoted to sophomore status: • 6 credits • 1 English credit; 1 Math credit • To be promoted to junior status: • 12 credits • 1 English credit; 1 Math credit • To be promoted to senior status: • 18 credits • 1 English credit; 1 Math credit
Graduating with Honors This is MNPS required criteria. Students must score at or above ALL of the subject area readiness benchmarks on the ACT or equivalent score on the SAT English 18 Math 22 Science 24 Soc. St/ Reading 21
Graduating with Distinction This is MNPS required criteria. Earn a “B” average (85 or higher) AND complete one of the following: Earn a nationally recognized industry certification Participate in at least one of the Governor’s schools Participate in one of the state’s All State musical organizations Be selected as a National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist Attain a score of 31 or higher on the ACT Successfully complete the IB Diploma Programme Earn 12 or more semester hours of Transcripted postsecondary credit Attain a score of 3 or higher on at least two advanced placement (AP) exams AP scores are not returned to schools until the summer so this criteria must be met by end of junior year in order to graduate with distinction on the student’s actual graduation day senior year. If a student receives a score of 3 or higher on their second AP test in the summer after their senior year, they can submit a Diploma Change Request Form in the counseling office. This allows them to have their diploma updated to reflect the Diploma with Distinction status.
