The Cat and the Hippo

2. Once upon a time there was an orange cat named Abasi that always bragged about how fast he was. One day when Abasi was bragging to hippo, hippo decided that he was going to challenge Abasi to a race because he did not like Abasi bragging all the time.

3. Hippo said, “I challenge you to a race from the Nile River to the Great Pyramid”. Abasi did not know what hippo was thinking about when he challenged Abasi to a race, but Abasi agreed.

4. The next day when hippo and Abasi where going to have the race, everyone gathered at the Nile River where the race began. Both Abasi’s and hippo’s families were there.

5. Everyone thought it was silly that hippo challenged Abasi to a race. When the ref, the tiger, blew his whistle the race began.

6. The hippo began the race slowly ,but Abasi began quickly. When the Abasi was half way there he decided to take a nap because hippo was not in sight and he was a bit tired.

7. When Abasi woke up he found out that hippo had already won ! Abasi’s friends asked how he lost and he said, “Hippo was not in sight, so I took a nap.” Then Abasi said that he must have slept too long.

8. Then hippo came to the cat and said, “Slow and steady wins the race.’’ And from that day forward Abasi never bragged again.
