A message from the teacher… Hello boys and girls! I hope everyone had a great summer. I can’t wait to hear about your adventures. I’m very excited about this year! The fourth grade teachers have been busy planning. We have lots of fun and exciting lessons to share with you.

Parent Information • New Calendar and School Times School will begin on August 16, 2011 New School Times – Doors will open at 7:20 Instructional time will begin at 7:50 and end at 3:05 • Transportation Changes– It is very important that parents send a note or call the front office if a transportation change is necessary. If we do not have a note or phone call, we can not allow children to change from their normal transportation.
More Parent Information… • Parent Conferences – Parent conferences will be scheduled during the year to discuss student progress. • Discipline Policy – 1st infraction = verbal warning 2nd infraction = after school detention with teacher 3rd infraction = referral to principal 4th infraction = meeting with parent Serious behavior problems may result in child being sent to principal’s office immediately. • Homework Policy – Homework should take about 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete each night. Students will have homework in Reading, Math, and Spelling on most days. Occasionally, students will also have Science, Health or Social Studies homework. Homework will be checked daily for a daily grade. • Homework Agendas are required and can be purchased for $5.00. • Grading Policy – Fourth grade will follow the 7 point letter grading scale. • 100 – 93 A • 92 – 85 B • 84 – 77 C • 76 - 70 D • 69 - 0 F
More Parent Information… • EOG Testing - Fourth grade is a testing year. We will work hard throughout the year to prepare for these important tests. It is important that your student be present every day, work hard, and complete all assignments. • Student Goals – Students will be given goals to reach each nine weeks. They will receive two grades for each of the following: • Accelerated Math • Reading Counts One grade is the percentage of their goal they meet and the second is their average test score. • Snack Policy – We will have a snack break every day. Students may bring a snack from home or purchase from the cafeteria before class begins at 7:50 a.m. They may also have water bottles that will be stored in the classroom. These water bottles need to be 12 oz. or less and have a twist top.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. If you call during school hours, I may not be able to come to the phone.
