Our Mission is to improve the quality of life in our communities by reducing tobacco use – serving the counties of Carbon, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming.

  13. TOBACCO FREE NORTHEAST PA FY 2011 OUTCOMES Cessation 1,040 in Treatment 1,031 Adults 9 Teens • 497 Quit • 695 used NRT • 449 Completed • 382 reached at 30-day Follow-up; 210 Quit • 201 reached at 6 month Follow-up; 85 Quit 44 Worksites

TOBACCO FREE NORTHEAST PAFY 2011 SUCCESS • Patient with Diabetes, Peripheral Artery Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Hypertension progressed from a contemplative smoker to a non-smoker utilizing effective cognitive behavioral change, NRT and counseling.  He said, “I could not have succeeded without you.”   • Employee had a stroke and was encouraged to quit by his doctor.  His employer initiated on-site cessation for him and other employees.  

  15. TOBACCO FREE NORTHEAST PAFY 2011 SUCCESS • Every Smoker, Every time brief intervention training to 189 health care professionals • Tobacco Dependence Training to 24 professionals • St. Luke's Hospital mobile health van with brief assessments and cessation counseling for teens has expanded from Bethlehem District to include 3 schools in the Allentown District.

  16. TOBACCO FREE NORTHEAST PAFY 2011 SUCCESS • Youth Leadership Institute held in December 2010 with 35 teens from 8 counties. They were trained in peer leadership, advocacy and enforcement • 30 Representatives/Senators were visited by TFNE staff; P10 teens met with 4 of their legislators. Students from one high school sent letters to their legislators explaining their cause and accomplishments. • Two trainings in PA 100% Tobacco Free Schools Tool Kit reached 57 personnel from 35 schools.
