FILM CRITIC TO THE FOLLOWING PLAYS ( ACT ) :1. LURTHMAN2.ZEFIRELLI3.WEST SIDE STORY JUDGES: JAVIER ATALA EDITH VELASQUEZ MARIA ISABEL BANDES RAFAEL VILLEDA
LURTHMAN • Scene and clothing are modern. • Romeo romantically went to find Juliet at her balcony. • Juliet’s house is very big, modern and classic. • Their language is original Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare) dialogue. • Love between the both is obvious because of the way they talk to each other at the balcony scene. • It is the most romantic and has more fantasy of all three movies. • True love is shown in act 2 because the balcony scene is very romantic. • They both go in the pool and almost get caught by Juliet’s guard. • After all the talking Romeo leaves and Juliet goes in the house because the nurse calls her like 2 times while being with Romeo.
Zeffirelli • Romeo climbs up the wall of Juliets house to go and talk with her at her balcony. • They make the best love scene in history of love scences in Juliets balcony. • They kiss a lot and have a different love scence than the Lurhman version. • Lurhman: Pool and in social area Zeffirelli: Juliets balcony. • There love scene was very bad acted becasue they had to much kissing. • Romeo proposses marriage. • Mercutio Benvolio and his friends and family get very angry at him because of him ditching him at the party. • When the capulet nanny comes to talk to Romeo, Mercutio and everyone there disrespect her unlike the Lurhman version where they do nothing to her.
West Side Story • This is totally different then the other versions because it is a musical. • In one of the songs the Puerto Rican’s discuss with the women on which is better (U.S.A. Or Puerto Rico). • Maria and Tony make thier scene in Marias Balcony just like Zeffirelli, but unlike Luhrmann. • They do not kiss that much like in the Zeffirelli version. • Instead of meeting in the church to get married they meet where Maria works. They get married there. • Instead of fighting in the streets of Verona like the other movies, the Sharks vs. Jets will do a rumble.
LUTHRMAN • It was a hard deciction to make, because all three plays have someting special that reprsent the play but we as judges voted that for the most modern, creative, intersting, and less borning, lutherman takes the prize for the best play of Romeo and Juliet. It was the one that the mayority of poeple liked and was the most seen. We cant live behind the fabilouse actrees, that did an excellent work. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
CONCLUCION • The three movies have many differences and similarities especially the Zeffirell because it is much more old fashioned and older than the Lurthman and the West Side story which take place in a more modern time. There are differences because in the and West Side Story the actors are better and make the movie more interesting and realistic. The scene of the wedding in West Side Story is really different than the Lurthman and the Zeffirell because Romeo and Juliet really don’t marry they just pretend it while in the other two movies they really get married by the church. In act 2 the scenes in the 3 movies are much romantic because the famous scene of the balcony takes place. In the Lurthman version the scene happens on a balcony and then they fall to a pool. In the Zeffirell Romeo and Juliet kiss in a very strange way in the balcony that is not so appropriate, while in the West Side story they do not even kiss. The 3 movies are interesting and entertaining but some people prefer to watch more modern versions than old because of the effects and the actors that throughout the time are better. The 3 movies have the same ideas but are expressed in different ways but still there are little differences on the scenes and the ways they act some scenes and choose to make them . and it´s interesting to watch how the creation of movies has changed throughout years.
