What Makes You Happy? • “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…” • Ask people what they want most in life and they will often say, “happiness” • The problem is not happiness; God wants us to be happy; but, where and how people are seeking happiness • Solomon experienced it all; he found out where happiness is and is not

  3. Solomon’s Quest for Happiness • In Wisdom (1:12-18) • In Wine (2:1-3) • In Works (2:4-6) • In Wealth (2:7-11) • In Women (1 K. 11)

  4. Today’s Quest for Happiness • In Wisdom (Rom. 1:21-32) • In Wine (2 Tim. 3:4; 1 Pet. 4:3) • In Works (Lk. 12:16) • In Wealth (Mt. 6:19-20; 1 Tim. 6:9-10) • In Women (2 Pet. 2:14)

  5. Solomon’s Conclusion • Happiness is found in fearing God and keeping his commandments (5:7; 7:18; 8:12-13; 12:13-14) • Happiness is found in believing God (Psa. 144:15; 146:5) • Happiness is found in God’s word (Prov. 3:13, 18; 16:20; 28:14)

  6. Solomon’s Conclusion • Happiness is found in knowing and doing God’s will (Jn. 13:17) • Happiness is found in God’s salvation (Deut. 33:29) • Happiness is found in living a godly life (Psa. 128:1-2)
