Major Business Area : Manufacturing • PoE (Power over Ethernet) • PoE refers to the ability to carry electrical power over a standard Ethernet cable-the same one used • today for transferring data. PoE allows IP telephones, WLAN APs(Access Point) and Web cams to • receive power as well as data over existing LAN cabling, without any requirement to modify the • existing Ethernet infrastructure. After ratification of the IEEE802.3af -2003 standard on June 2003 • for 12.95W delivery to PD, growth in PoE devices and installation has been increased, also • IEEE802.3at-2009 known as PoE+ or PoE Plus for higher power delivering 25W to PD was also • ratified 2009. • xDSL POTS(Plain Old Telephone Set) Splitter • The xDSL POTS splitter enables simultaneous use of telephone and high speed Internet linkage • using xDSL modem by mixing and separating digital signal and analog signal. • Ethernet Surge Protector • appliance designed to protect Ethernet devices from voltage spikes. A surge protector attempts to • regulate the voltage supplied to an electric device by either blocking or by shorting to ground • voltages above a safe threshold. • Magnetic Components for Telecom Industry • RF Module, Parts • HIC
PoE(Power over Ethernet) • Power Over Ethernet technology allows IP telephones, wireless LAN Access Points and other embedded computer appliances to receive power as well as data over existing CAT5 LAN cabling. Established as an IEEE standard, Power over Ethernet offers new options to system designers by providing economical and flexible deployment of networked devices.
PoE Key Benefits • Installation Cost Savings • Eliminates the need for electrical outlet installation • Dramatically reduces cost of deployment-saving up to $1,000 per PD • No need for bulky AC power adapter • Simplifies Installation • Uses a single Cat5/5e/6 cable for both data and power • Centralized Power Backup • Continuous operation during power interruptions • Centralized Power Management • Devices can be remotely powered down during periods of low usage or for security purposes • SAFE Power • Will not damage Non-PoE devices or legacy periperals
PSE(Power Sourcing Equip) vs PD(Powered Device) of PoE products
PSE(Power Sourcing Equipment) vs PD(Powered Device) • Power sourcing equipment (PSE) is a device such as a switch that provides ("sources") power on the Ethernet cable. The maximum allowed continuous output power per cable in IEEE 802.3af is 15.40 W. A later specification, IEEE 802.3at, offers 25.50 W. When the device is a switch, it's called an endspan. Otherwise, if it's an intermediary device between a non PoE capable switch and a PoE device, it's called a midspan. An external PoE injector is a midspan device • A powered device (PD) is a device powered by a PSE and thus consumes energy. Examples include wireless access points, IP Phones, and IP cameras. Many powered devices have an auxiliary power connector for an optional, external, power supply. Depending on the PD design, some, none, or all power can be supplied from the auxiliary port, with the auxiliary port sometimes acting as backup power in case of PoE supplied power failure. PDs are usually built in WAP, VoIP, Web Camera and for the legacy devices without built in PD, PoE function can be enabled by Splitter type PDs.

PD Products, Built In Module Types(rev.1, 12/20/’10) These modules are designed as embedded isolated PD solutions and extract power from Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) via conventional Category 5 Ethernet cable and convert the DC voltage from PSE to DC voltage as needed for terminals.
PD Products, Splitter Types A splitter enables easy integration of the Power over Ethernet technology into legacy Equipment(w/o PoE function). Using the same infrastructure, without making any modifications to the end points, already designed legacy devices, such as Wireless LAN access points and IP telephone sets become Power over Ethernet enabled when connected to the active splitter.
