Curation staffing • Full time professional curator, currently staffed through UNC SILS Metadata Research Center • Part time student curatorial assistants • Estimated 30 minutes of curatorial assistant time required per typical submission • Turn around time for processing new submissions ~1 business day

  3. Value added by curation • Customer service to authors and journals • Screening of inappropriate content • Higher quality and quantity of metadata • Future conversion of files to preferred formats • Future improvement of metadata, e.g., ORCID • Future metadata enrichment for selected items

Customer service to authors and journals • Pre-submission inquiries from authors • Technical problems with submission • Curator-initiated communications • Weekly curator reports to journal • Information requests by journal • Versioning and other follow up All communications are dependent upon journal configuration preferences
