  2. Capital city, major cities, region in the U.S. • The capital city of Oklahoma is Oklahoma City. • Some of the major cities in Oklahoma are Ponca City, Midwest City, and Del City. • Oklahoma is in the Southwest region of the United States.

  3. Population and Nickname • The population in Oklahoma is 3,687,050 people. • The nickname of Oklahoma is Sooner State.

  4. State Flag, State Bird, and State Tree State flag The scissor-tailed flycatcher is the state bird of Oklahoma. The redbud tree is the state tree of Oklahoma.

  5. Geography • The Southern section has mountain ranges, as well as swampy lowlands along the Red and Arkansas rivers. Much of the states are made up of high, flat land and treeless plains that are good for farming and ranching. Red canyons and sand dunes are part of the state.

  6. History • Guthrie was the first capital of Oklahoma. In 1910 the capital was moved to Oklahoma City. The first automatic parking meter was installed in Oklahoma City on July 16th , 1935. Oklahoma became a state on November 16, 1907 and it was the 46th state.
