  2. ELÄMÄNI SANKARI ASSOCIATION’S SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION IN HYVINKÄÄ The prevention work carried out by the organisation is systematic and persistent. The all-round co-operation started in 2009. • Yearly, the organisation carries out the following preventive measures in middle schools, upper secondary schools and other secondary education institutions: • A yearly survey for young people about wellbeing (a comprehensive survey on youth welfare) • Substance abuse prevention lessons for grades 7 to 9 (the lessons are interactive) • Parents’ evenings in schools (presenting the results of the survey to the parents) • Briefings to school personnel (survey results of the school in question, information on the current substance abuse situation in the field) • A sports event where classes play against each other (Sankari floorball tournament), the goal is to improve the class spirit

  3. ELÄMÄNI SANKARI ASSOCIATION’S SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION IN HYVINKÄÄ • Organisation coordinates the Päihdekupla event which is aimed at 6th graders. The event brings together experts from different fields, and it is part of the schools’ curricula. • Organisation is also an active part of the local co-operation network concerning young people. • Elämäni Sankari association supports the education work done in Hyvinkää. • www.elamanisankari.fi
