Adverbs. In German adjectives and adverbs have the same form. In English we use different forms. Function. We use adverbs to:. describe verbs describe other adverbs describe adjectives describe complete sentences. It's terribly cold. This steak is badly cooked. He is unusually fast.

  7. Word order • manner – place – time • They practised hard in the gym before the game • Never put adverbs between verb and object! • Sie spricht gut Englisch / She speaks E. well.
