Silver Jackets is the state-level implementation of the USACE National Flood Risk Management Program.
Purpose/Goals • Continuous mechanism to address state-prioritized flood risk issues • Strategic life-cycle planning to reduce flood risk • Improved flood risk communication, processes, outreach and collaboration • Leverage resources & information – patchwork quilt • Multi-agency technical resource for state & local agencies
Structure • Charter signed by ‘core team’ agencies • USACE coordinates/facilitates • Monthly meetings • Consensus • Membership expands/contracts depending on issues • Annual meeting of core team agency leaders • Evolves with State’s needs
The Idaho Silver Jackets Team formed in 2009 Washington charter is developed, priorities to come Montana is in charter / priority development
