  2. Today we will be using various different group activities to help us edit our papers. Peer Editing

  3. Thesis Statement Organization Conclusion Spelling Punctuation Grammar We will begin the class working together as a whole group. The teacher will explain what to look for when editing your peers’ papers. Whole Group Time

  4. Pairs • Students will find a partner and will review their paper for errors, suggest alterations, or give positive feedback where appropriate.

  5. Whole Group Time • Students will regroup as a whole class, and will share commonly identified errors, questions, and general strengths and weaknesses of the papers. • Students will reflect on this information as they begin to revise their own papers.

  6. Individual Time • Students will break off by themselves and will begin to revise their papers independently. • They will use the information garnered form the peer edit, and the whole group discussions to make changes to their papers.

  7. Still have questions or concerns? • I’m not sure my partner’s suggestions are correct. • Is my paper on the right track? • I had an idea, but I’m not sure if I should add it to my paper. • Where can I find more research to support my arguments?

  8. Questions/Concerns • If you still have questions or concerns, the teacher will be available for individual conferences during independent work time. • If you have questions that come up after class, you may also schedule a time to meet with the teacher during your lunch time or after school.
