U-9 through U-12 Boys & Girls • Developmentally similar • Agility helps but gets undone • Core &Weights ??? • Overheating • Duration • Recovery • Work in Pairs or teams Ex) tail tag or relay races
U-13 through U-15 girls • Growth spurt almost over • Core strength • ACL prevention – stabilizer muscles • Agility, Agility, Agility, Agility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! • Intensity & Duration are directly tied to competitiveness • Don’t over train ( multisport athletes ) • Get physical! Ex) 1v1, 2v2 in large space
U-13 through U-15 boys Smaller than girls – growth spurts begin Fitness with ball always even for punishment Agility and Acceleration is big Get physical safely (Oliver Haaland) avoid BURNOUT AGILITY & AGILITY Growing Pains 2v2 get competitive
U-16 through U-18 Girls • Highest intensity and duration (even in wt. rm.) • Use as punishment w/o ball–won’t resent you • Plyos and agility training • Paired fitness ( meg session ) • Running afterwards is ok if fitness goals weren’t met during session I like to start or end with ACL Prevention and core workouts
U-16 through U-18 boys • Power, with physicality • Agility and flexibility after session • Athleticism is still growing • Weights aregreat!!! • Run as a punishment w/o ball • Economical training ex) fitness + passing
Can you do too much? • Age dependent • Injuries • Timing of season (pre-season vs. tapering) • Punishment
