4,066 individuals representing 367 serious organised crime groups (SOCGs) impacting on Scotland. Groups were involved in a wide range of crime types, from drug importation and money laundering to counterfeiting and robbery. 241 individuals were identified as having ‘specialist’ links to SOCGs, the most common being financial specialists and money launderers. SCDEA staff numbers boosted by more than 25% over the next two years. £4 million Scottish Government funding package over the next 2 years which include: providing 80 new posts at the SCDEA the creation of a Scottish Intelligence and Co-ordination Unit, which will include the provision of Scotland’s first dedicated expert resources to build the intelligence picture to support complex fraud and human trafficking investigation, and; the publication of Scotland’s first multi-agency strategy to ensure that law enforcement, businesses, public bodies and communities work together to defeat organised crime.
