Doing an Internship Great idea if you need to gain work experience or change fields! • Choosing the right place: - Will it lead to a job? - Is it in the field that you’re interested in? • Finding a PAID internship: www.idealist.org www.americorps.gov
Americorps Paid Internships Work at Non-Profit Organizations • Paid Salary AND Education Award Earn a salary, usually around $1,000/month Paid Health Insurance and Childcare $5,530 to pay tuition OR $1,000 bonus after one year • Great experience! • Many positions don’t have an age requirement www.americorps.gov

Transitioning to the Health Field • Highlight similar experience on cover letter • Volunteer at a health care facility part-time • Consider enrolling in a training program ex: ITG Grant
Preparing for the Interview • In Preparation: • Consider doing a Mock Interview with a Job Counselor • Dress appropriately • Bring a copy of your resume • Be early! • During the Interview: • Have a few stories that highlight your strengths! • After the Interview: • Send a thank you email! • Follow up!
