What is sound? • Sound is anything that humans can hear • Sound is the quickly varying pressure wave within a medium • It is a small rapid change in the air pressure above and below a static value • Sound energy is the energy produced by sound vibrations as they travel through a specific medium

  3. Dhwani • It is a pair of headphones • It contains the tuner circuit which filters out sound • It works on the principle of “Two waves of opposite polarity but same amplitude cancel out each other”

  7. advantages • The surrounding sound e.g. vehicle horn noise, a loudspeaker been played, etc, may be quite stressful for a person. This headphone helps in minimizing the sound thereby minimizing the stress due to sound. • Portability: These headphones can be carried anywhere easily. • User friendly: It’s very easy to understand the working of it and also easy to operate it. • Cost: It’s affordable to a common man

Disadvantages • Heat: Due to various ICs a lot amount of heat is generated which • Radiations: radiations generated from mummy alarms may be harmful to human beings. • Battery life: the life span of batteries used is not prolonged. It is necessary to change the battery after a certain period of time

Applications • An aid to students during their study time, which would prevent unwanted disturbance. • Workers on site are benefited by the device, which would minimize the excessive sound levels coming from machines. • Can be used during meditation. • Employees can use it during working hours. • Old aged would be benefited by this device. • Sick people in hospitals can use it. • It can be used as a hearing aid by people having slight hearing deficiency. • It can also be used to listen to the audio sounds stored in the memory chip

Conclusion • ‘Dhwani’ as described above is a type of headphone that can be used for serving two purposes . • One purpose being the noise cancellation and other being tuning the headphone such that it acts as an amplifying device . • In simple words or from the application point of view these headphones can be used by an ordinary individual as well as by a person having slight hearing deficiency i.e. it can be used as hearing aids. • The major advantages of Dhwani are, it’s a portable device, easy to use, incorporates the use of solar panels etc. • On account of such advantages the headphone can find many applications with minor modifications. • Thus, if the device moves towards the implementation phase, it will prove to be an amazing & useful technology for everyone.
