A private cloud appliance that allows synchronous replication between storage arrays- and the applications and virtual machines with them- that are up to 60 miles apart Designed to provide data migration for automated storage provisioning disaster recovery and business continuity systems

Comes in two versions: VPLEX Local a single appliance for replication within a single data center between EMC arrays -can virtualize up to 8000 logical unit numbers VPLEX Metro enables synchronous replication between two boxes at distances of up to 100km - can virtualize up to 16000 logical unit numbers

What is does for business… The new technology will allow enterprises to move data quickly to processing centers where energy costs are lower for batch processing tasks that typically are performed daily In addition, it will allow IT groups to balance the data load across data centers. Also has the ability to move data away from particular geographic areas during disaster situations and move data more easily around the globe as the business day progresses.
