Sample • 302 completed surveys by TherapyEd Prep Class participants • 94.7% of survey respondents had taken the exam and received their results • 73.8% graduated from CAPTE accredited programs • 73.2% were first-time test takers
Procedures • Participants completed the survey anonymously over the Internet • Survey asked questions about: • Student background • Exam history • Study habits • Study attitudes
Survey items: Student Background : • Did you graduate from a CAPTE accredited program in the United States? • Is English your native language?
Survey items: • Have you taken the National Physical Therapy Examination? If so, how many times? • Have you received your most recent results? If so, did you pass? Exam History:
Study Habits: • How many weeks did you study prior to taking your most recent NPTE? • During this time, how many hours per week did you study on average?
Study Attitudes: • Rate your academic performance in your PT Program compared to that of your classmates. • Prior to taking your most recent NPTE, how confident were you about your ability to pass it?

Taking the TherapyEd Prep Class improves Study Habits: • The majority of successful students (76.1%) studied an average of 2 hours a day • The majority of students (82.2%) started studying at least 5-6 weeks before the NPTE
Taking the TherapyEd Prep Class increases Participants’ self confidence, despite prior academic performance: • 40.7% of students rated their performance in school as average or less than average • Less than 5% of students expressed having ‘no confidence’ in their ability to pass the NPTE

Conclusions from the TherapyEd Prep Class Outcome Study • 97% of students who took the TherapyEd Prep Class passed the NPTE on their first attempt • Taking the TherapyEd Prep class increases NPTE success of graduates from ALL programs (CAPTE and/or International) • Taking the TherapyEd Prep class improves participants’ study habits • Taking the TherapyEd Prep class improves participants’ self-confidence
