Objectives of the Federation • Promote development of the purchasing and supply profession. • Share knowledge on Association management best practises. • Support development and recognition of professional procurement and supply organizations. • To present a unified face for the profession where collectivity counts. • The Federation handles a 50/50 focus on the so-called “body of knowledge” and the “learning network”.
The magnitude of the Federation • IFPSM is the umbrella organization of forty four National Associations worldwide. • Total number of purchasing professionals just over 200.000. • National Associations, member of IFPSM, operate in Europe, Canada and USA, Latin America and East Asia and Pacific. • Most Associations have a national focus, but some are internationally active. CIPS always has been but others like e.g. NEVI have growing training activities outside base country.
Activities and visibility of IFPSM • Quality assurance and Quality control of National Associations’ Training Programs for them to obtain and hold the IFPSM logo. • Bi-annual world conference for National Associations and IFPSM Council meetings. • Regional conferences twice a year. • IFPSM Summer- and Winterschool. • IFPSM Awards • EPPG European Public Procurement Group through ECPS. • EU-Brussels Lobby • EU CEN Workshop Agreement. Purchasing process standard.
IFPSM strategies; updated Spring 2008 • Increase IFPSM membership by fifteen percent in three years. • Create best in class hub to deliver best in class knowledge. In time charter status; like engineers and accountants. • Increase the ability to execute and resource. • Enhance external or outward orientation. • External use of IFPSM brand by Member Associations. • Support national associations to cope with globalization.
