We finished up Topic 2 in our math series by working on recognizing numbers, finding groups with more, less, or the same, and counting objects to match a number. We also continued playing the 100’s game in class to work on counting by 1’s up to 100 together as a group. There was no math homework this week. Phonemic Awareness Language Arts This week’s stories were related to anti-bullying week and Thanksgiving. We have been reading and talking about good character traits and how to treat each other as we would like to be treated. Our sight words were ‘are’, ‘as’, & ‘white’ this week. We cheered the spelling, working in our sight word books (read the word and found it in a sentence), and searched for sight words in a poem. The children wrote more sentences this week related to thanksgiving and what they are thankful for in their lives. We also wrote sentences about things that are white. Our Weekly Reader magazine was all about Thanksgiving. Remember you can log onto www.spellingcity.com to play games with the sight words online! Please also help your child practice singing the color songs by going onto my website and clicking on Color Powerpoints! This week we completed week 11 of the program. The skills remain the same as last week, but the words are increasing in difficulty. Please practice rhyming words with your child at home to reinforce this skill in preparation for an upcoming assessment. PBIS/Behavior We are still enjoying watching ‘Rusty’ videos which teach us about how to treat ourselves and others respectfully. The videos are short and cover a wide range of topics.
