The Eau Claire Planet Walk Official Opening Saturday, April 27, 2013 The Eau Claire Planet Walk is a 1 mile long scale model of the Solar System, connecting the Farmers Market to the Haas Fine Arts Lawn at UW-Eau Claire with a set of markers representing the locations of the planets and their moons. 3.00 pm We’ll meet at the Farmers Market in Phoenix Park for a conducted tour of the 1 mile Planet Walk, ending at the Haas Fine Arts Center at UW-Eau Claire. 4.00 pm Reception at the Haas Fine Arts Center. 4.30 pm “The Planet Walk and Our Exploration of the Solar System” by Paul Thomas, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Phillips Recital Hall. 5.00 pm Musical event: selections from “The Planets” (Holst) and “Celestial Suite” (Bullen) by Basically Brass, Phillips Recital Hall. Weather permitting, there will be a telescope viewing opportunity on the Haas Fine Arts lawn, starting at 8:30 pm. Free and family friendly! Paul Thomas thomaspj@uwec.edu (715) 836-3615
