Purpose: • To create learning organizations led by recognized teacher leaders for the purpose of improving instructional practice to increase student achievement. • Focus Words: • Relationship • Impact • Feedback • Quality and Rigor • Celebration **Perseverance
Overarching Goal: • To create and maintain a professional instructional environment that supports each teacher through guided professional development, mentoring and leadership that meets each buildings’ unique needs.
Implementation: • Program Overview: • Identified Teacher Leaders • Identified Roles of Teacher Leaders • Represent your building and the district as a positive role model for your profession and maintain an attitude of positive learning and support for your colleagues • Act as primary support for new and second year teachers • Actively participate in DLT/PLC as appropriate and be the keeper of the instructional vision for the district • Act as model instructors/classrooms to demonstrate new skills and knowledge in instructional planning and delivery
Implementation Continued: • Create Supports and Processes to Achieve Your Purpose! • Primary Area One: Primary Support for new and second year teachers: • Mentor Organization and Support: Central Middle School • Thoughts and planning • Primary Area Two: Actively participate in DLT/PLC as appropriate and be the keeper of the instructional vision for the district • PLC demonstration: Raytown High School Science • Thoughts and planning • Primary Area Three: Act as model instructors/classrooms to demonstrate new skills and knowledge in instructional planning and delivery • Learn then practice specific skills • Establish practical mastery • Teach colleagues through presentation and modeling
Resources and Supports • Funding: • Titles I and II and CPL (1%) funds • Teaching and Learning: • 21st Century Learning Skills: Teamwork and collaboration; Initiative and leadership; Curiosity and imagination; Innovation and creativity; Critical thinking, questioning and problem solving; Flexibility and adaptability; Effective oral and written communication; Accessing and analyzing information(Larry Ainsworth: Leadership and Learning Center. 2010) • Meetings, Building Visits and Supports: • Three 3 hour meetings per semester • Building level PD presented by teacher leaders • Building visits as scheduled for group and individual interaction • Three units of credit offered each semester
