  1. About Robert Burns Robert Burns came from a poor farming family in Ayr. His father was William Burns and his mother was Agnes Burns. Before Robert Burns was born William Burns acquired 7 and a half acres of land. With his own hands he built Burns Cottage in Ayr. Robert Burns was the eldest of 7 children. He was born in 1759 and died in 1796 and when he died he was only 37. Robert Burns was a famous Scottish poet and song writer . Robert Burns had a total of twelve children by four women, nine by Jean Armour.
