Bulimia Nervosa Eats large amounts of food and then compensates in extreme ways, such as forced vomiting or excessive exercise, to prevent weight gain • People with anorexia are usually very thin and underweight. Those with bulimia may be a normal weight or even overweight, which is why the disease may go undetected.
Compulsive Exercise Disorder A compulsive need to exercise so as not to gain weight; does not choose to exercise but feels compelled to do so Also called: • exercise bulimia • obligatory exercise • anorexia athletica
Binge Eating Disorder Eating unusually large amounts of food at one time even when feeling full • 1/3 of people between ages 2 and 19 are overweight or obese
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) Chronic mental illness in which you can't stop thinking about a minor or imagined flaw in your appearance
