  4. Fun facts • 1. Charles Garnier was hired to design and build the PalaisGarnier after winning an architectural design competition. • 2. Charles Garnier also designed a 7-ton bronze and crystal chandelier. During a performance, one of the counterweights fell and killed an audience member.
