  1. What Makes National Law Universities the Best Law Colleges in India?

  2. Introduction • The effectiveness of law and order in the country vouches for its peace and harmony. The guilty should be punished and the innocent should never be convicted, and in order to ensure the same, there is a need of lawyers who can collect every facet of truth and put forth arguments that are in compliance with the law. To ensure that the lawyers are well acquainted with the law of the land, there is a need of eminent law institutes.

  3. What are National Law Universities? National Law Universities are the autonomous law schools that have been established to impart an excellent level of legal education in India. There are a total of 18 NLUs in India and a few more NLUs have been proposed to be setup in the forthcoming years. Each of these NLUs has been approved by Bar Council of India. The National Law School of India University situated in Bangalore was the first NLU. It was established in 1987.

  4. What Makes these the Best Law Colleges in India? Reason1: Excellent standard of Legal education Each NLU adheres to the curriculum suggested by the Bar Council of India. Their sole aim is to deliver quality legal education to those studying in the institute.

  5. Reason2: Involvement of Legal Dignitaries Each of these NLUs has reputed legal dignitaries on highly important positions like the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor. This vouches for the high level of legal education in these institutes.

  6. Reason 3: Integrated Course Earlier, only those who had attended a 3-year graduate program were eligible to appear for LLB. However, the NLUs now have a 5-year integrated course that includes the graduation level programs like BBA and BA.

  7. Seeking Admission in NLU To seek admission in NLUs, one needs to appear for the CLAT exam. The CLAT exam is a joint entrance exam that is conducted by one of the NLUs during the month of May each year. It is conducted for both UG and PG courses where the scope of syllabus varies for both of these.
