ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURESIN BSNL Presentation by VP Gupta, PCE (E) BSNL Tamilnadu Electrical Zone Chennai
GREEN PLANET TECHNOLOGY HAS MADE THIS WORLD AS A GLOBAL VILLAGE IT IS FOR ALL OF US TO MAKE THIS VILLAGE A BEAUTIFUL & GREENER PLACE TO LIVE “H..H.SRI SRI RAVI SHANKAR “
WHY ENERGY CONSERVATION • ENERGY SAVED IS PURE PROFIT TO BSNL • ENERGY SAVED CAN BE USED TO MEET THE DEMAND OF PRIORITY SECTOR • ENERGY SAVED MAKES THIS WORLD A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO LIVE • 1UNIT OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY SAVED = 10 UNIT OF FUEL • LESS GLOBAL WARMING • BETTER HEALTH, COMFORT & PRODUCTIVITY
BSNL TN INITIATIVES • ENERGY POLICY • CORE GROUP MEETINGS AT SSA LEVEL IN ADDITION TO CIRCLE LEVEL • ENERGY CONSERVATION AWARDS TO EE/SDE/JTO ELECT IN ADDITION TO BEST SSA
OBJECTIVE • Exploring Energy Saving Opportunities in BSNL and Disseminating information to all Employees
VISION Promoting Efficient use of Electrical Energy and its Conservation
Energy Conservation Act • Energy Conservation Act 2001 provides for Energy Auditing and Energy Conservation of Designated Consumers. • The Act provides grace period of 5 years, I.e., up to 1st Mar, 2007, for creation of infrastructure and thereafter there will be penalties for non-introduction of energy conservation measures.
Energy Conservation Act-Contd • For Buildings having Connected Load more than 500 KW, it will be mandatory to appoint qualified Energy Managers after 1st March, 2007. • The Govt of India has set a target of reducing Energy Consumption by 30% in Govt Buildings by 1st March, 2007.
BSNL TN ENERGY POLICY • “BHARAT SANCHAR NIGAM LTD, TAMILNADU IS COMMITTED TO CONSERVE ENERGY IN ALL ITS OPERATIONS. WE SHALL TRANSFORM ENERGY CONSERVATION IN TO A STRATEGIC BUSINESS GOAL AND MAKE IT AS A WAY OF LIFE”
GOALS & OBJECTIVES • Make Energy Conservation a Mass Movement with involvement of all our employees. • Monitor and Control consumption of energy through Energy Management Groups • To reduce specific energy consumption in all our operations and activities.
GOALS & OBJECTIVES • Recognise the Efforts of our Staff in Energy Conservation. • Share and Enrich our experience on Energy Conservation with SSAs/ Circles
BSNL TN STATUS • Energy Conservation to reduce operating cost & to remain competitive. • BSNL TN has already adopted No Cost & Low Cost measures for reducing energy consumption in Telecom Exchanges. • There are 2020 Telephone Exch in TN. Energy Audit Completed in 1108 exch . All the 10 exchanges with Connected Load of more than 500 KW Energy Audit Completed • Energy Saving Rs.58.91 lakhs for Power Factor, Rs.11.91 lakhs for reduction in CMD • Electtricity Bill for 2006-07 Rs. 107.11 Cr
BSNL HQ DIRECTIONS • CORE GROUP MEETING CHAIRED BY DIR PLG & NS AT BSNL CORP OFFICE ON 24.4.07 APPROVED IMPLEMENTATION OF ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURES IN BSNL. • CORE GROUP MEETINGS CHAIRED BY CGM TN ON 04.05.07&07.09.07 REVIEWED STATUS OF ENERGY CONSERVATION IN TN FOR APPROPRIATE ACTION
