  8. 关于 学习 最后记入成绩的,是 letter grade GPA 会影响进一步的学位申请 master,PhD…. 都需要 影响找工作 有的公司用GPA作为衡量标准之一 GPA 高是硬道理!

  9. Outline 关于 学习 选课,注册 关于选外系的课程,还有转系 textbook 课程和国内不一样的地方:人员配置,grading TOFEL 与语言课 一些个人感受 Academic Integrity

  10. 选课,注册 选什么课? 需要首先满足自己的培养计划,方向,学位要求选择 有一定的灵活性,可以考虑自己的兴趣及需要 选多少课? 研究生的课程,一般一个学期2门课是比较轻松的,3门课比较合适,4门课就很重了 选课的时候注意调配好课程

  12. 选课,注册 不同的系,不同的课程,侧重点和难度各有不同 文科类的: 阅读量很大(SPPD,传媒,law,ISE的某些课程) Math, 工程学院的:很多侧重数学 (math) CS, EE 的: 有的比较侧重编程 同一门课,不同的Professor 上,也会要求不同,侧重点、难度有别,任务量不同,给分也不一样 比较有帮助的,是在选课前找掌故的老生了解清楚情况,听听老生的建议,选好课程,选好老师,有所准备

  13. 关于选外系的课程,以及转系 想转系的同学需要再申请,需要考虑先修的课程是否能记入其他专业 可以考虑,利用3门外系的课程,还有crosslink 的课程 想修双学位的同学,两个学位之前重叠的只能有一门课(可以找门 4 units 的课来用….) 转系的要求要去各个系里问

  14. TextBook 1.amazon.com 上购买 新版本的书往往很贵,老版本书就会很便宜,有的Prof 也愿意接受老版本的书(但是要注意老版本的书的内容、作业可能会有些差距) 2. 跟老生买/借 3. 找找电子版的 4. 购买国际版的 (寄过来的时间比较长) 5. 图书馆借(但是往往只有一两本) 去bookstore买 -____-自己复印的材料自己用,注意不要侵犯到版权问题 新学期开学,bookstore里买的书, 一个月内可以退掉。 bookstore 也有二手课本,但是也比较贵,bookstore按照原价10%-20%回收旧课本

  15. 和国内课程不一样的地方:人员配置 课程有Professor, 通常有TA, 有的同时有 grader Professor 负责lecture 和课程组织安排,拥有最终解释权 Grader 改作业;TA 多为PhD 学生,有的负责discussion,有时候会改试卷等等。

  16. 和国内课程不一样的地方:Grading 课程最终的 letter grade并不完全由最后的考试决定 往往由weighted total 决定: 期中期末,平时作业,Project,Quiz,CaseStudy 出勤有的老师有要求,有的不要求 有的老师会curve,有的会设定标准,有的A多,有的A少 个别老师从不计平时成绩 建议 搞清楚各门课程的的要求,各个老师的要求, 搞好平时的成绩,考好试

  17. 关于 ALI 课程和 TOFEL 课程 不要对 ALI 报有幻想 大家可以看各个系里能不能减少,waive 语言课 如果可能,建议尽量推迟语言课 然后赶快考TOFEL,能考几次考几次,直至考过为止 祝愿大家这学期全部搞定TOFEL 和语言课

  18. 一些个人的感受 多问 美国的课程,提倡学生参与。有的老师、TA 都很提倡同学当堂提问。建议大家破除中国人腼腆的特点,多学习印度同学,多多提问。 重要的是真正的理解课程,把握精髓,自己苦思冥想半天,往往不如向老师提问,获得点拨的几十分钟。 多讨论 多和同学讨论,多和同学合作。往往能够提高效率,节省时间。

  20. Academic Integrity 例子: 程序相近,被F 作业一样,被算0分 写文章就因为一句话和文献一样,被 D 写文章因为有一个标注没有按照要求做,被F TA 发现作业雷同,被处理 太多血泪教训了!!

  21. Academic Integrity 在国内的时候,这方面的意识可能不是那么强 有的老师,TA 对这方面的要求可能特别高 大家要知道 不同国家的人对这方面的思维方式不一样! 如果预先能有老生的警告,就比较好
